1. The View Touch uses a digital light sensor to view the displayed image and its setup software calibrates the image into X-Y coordinates. A bright light spot, such as laser pointer, is projected to the image and tracked by the digital light sensor to simulate the mouse functions. The mouse cursor goes to where the light spot is, so the user can use a laser pointer to more, drag, click and double click the mouse cursor, but never need to touch the mouse itself. You may use the View Touch to run any mouse-driven program. In the most recent revision, the previous dual-intensity laser pointer is replaced by a wireless laser mouse to improve the stability when performing selection and clicking. For detailed information, please see User's Manual.
Also included is a software for annotation, screen shots capture and power point control. 3. First, run the setup software to install the View Touch driver and utility. Then, plug in the digital light sensor to USB port to install the hardware through Windows Hardware Installation Wizard. Open the View Touch setup program to position the digital light sensor, so it can see the entire display image. Run the calibration and adjust the sensitivity. Now you are ready to use the View Touch. The average setup time is about 15 minutes. See details of setup in User's Manual. A free setup demo DVD is also available upon request. 4. P-III 850MHz CPU, 128Mb RAM, USB port, 2000, XP, Vista, Win7. 5. Mac version is currently not available, but View Touch can work in Mac Windows setting. 6. Linux version is currently not available. 7. Avoid the reflective surface because the light from projector may be reflected back to the digital light sensor and cause the malfunction. Also avoid the surface that absorbs the light to make the laser spot hard to see. 8. Yes, you can use it on rear projection. If you put the digital light sensor behind the screen, make sure the laser light can go through the screen. If you put the digital light sensor in front of the screen, make sure the laser light can project a clear light spot on the screen. Adjust the intensity properly in the setup to optimize the performance. 9. Yes, you can use it on plasma, LCD, CRT, TV, etc., as long as you can see clearly a red spot projected by the laser pointer. Alternatively, a red LED may be used too. Adjust the intensity properly in the setup to optimize the performance. 10. Theoretically, as long as you can see the laser light spot on the screen, it will work. However, when you stand far away from the screen, it may become more difficult to aim the laser pointer accurately unless the buttons and icons to be activated are pretty big. 11. Yes, you can draw and write using the View Touch. The View Touch Pen utility works like a marker and screen capture to a bitmap file. 12. Yes, it works with writing recognition program. It might take some practice to write characters from a distance though. 13. The resolution of writing and drawing is reasonably good. However, if your application involves a lot of writing and drawing, we recommend that you can add a touch screen to your notebook or monitor to enhance the writing and drawing resolution. 14. The electronic whiteboard is like a touch screen, the user needs to physically contact the board to activate the mouse functions. It is very awkward when using a front projection, the user's shadow is always on the screen and the strong light from the projector also bothers the user a lot. Electronic whiteboard has a fixed active size and it is not a portable device. With View Touch, the user does not have to stand in front of the screen, and it can be used on any size of the projected image, it is also totally portable. As for projector remote mouse, its laser pointer is used only for getting audience's attention, it cannot control the mouse functions. If you prefer to use the standard interactive whiteboard with a pen, you may want to consider this DIY Interactive Whiteboard. 15. View Touch is more sensitive on white or light color background, and less sensitive on darker background. If your application is on dark background, you may need to open View Touch setup and increase the sensitivity. 16. The warranty is one-year parts and labor. Life-time free tech support and software upgrade. The digital light sensor and laser pointer can be replaced separately. Please contact us if you have other questions. | ||||||
